Shimla derives its name from goddess 'Shayamla Devi', which is another manifestation of Goddess Kali. It was the summer capital of British Regime in 1864. In 1903 a rail line was constructed between Kalka and Shimla. The Colonial patrimony can be perceived in its colossal aged buildings, the imperial Viceregal Lodge, bewitching iron lampposts and Anglo-Saxon names. Shimla also called the queen of hills is embellished with a picturesque location, orchards, waterfalls, green pastures and snow-capped peaks.

Chadwick Fall
7-km west of the ridge from Shimla are the Chadwick Falls, which was once the site of a 67-m aquatic phenomenon. It is the most attractive tourist spot.
Christ Church And St Michael'S Cathedral

Churdhar Sanctuary
A splendid structure of Lord Shiva crowns the Chur Peak from where the sanctuary got its name. The sanctuary is abode to the large number of kaleidoscopic and nimble Monals in the contiguous forests.
